A legend tell that the Devil built the Basilica and a imp built the "Recevresse".... in one night

The basilica Notre-Dame d' Avioth is a religious building of Gothic style built in XIVe century.

La basilique Notre-Dame d'Avioth est un édifice religieux Meusien de style gothique édifiée au XIVe siècle.
Une légende raconte qu'elle fut construite en une nuit par le diable, à la demande d'un bailli, en échange de son ame. Un apprenti diablotin retardant la construction, fut renvoyé. Celui-ci, vexé, construisit la Recevresse, un étonnant édicule en dentelle de pierre abritant à peine une vierge à l'enfant en bois sculpté.
